In one line: we are an independent site run by a working DevOps engineer who hosts real production traffic on the providers we review. We rank by your use case, disclose every commission, and recommend hosts we earn nothing from when they are the better fit.
HostingDiscounts.org is an independent comparison and review site for VPS hosting, Minecraft server hosting, Windows VPS, Forex VPS, and managed cloud hosting. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, Hostinger, Cloudways, Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, or any other provider unless we explicitly say so on the page.
Who runs this site
The reviews are written and the tests are run by Rai Ansar, a DevOps engineer and founder of AceFina Creative with 6+ years keeping production WordPress and VPS infrastructure online. This is not a content farm. One person who actually administers servers is responsible for what gets published here, and his name and credentials are public on the author page.
How we test
We run our own production infrastructure on Hetzner, Cloudways, and Hostinger. The benchmarks on this site come from real sites with real traffic, not from marketing decks or one-off synthetic tests on a freshly provisioned box.
- Real workloads: WordPress with caching, seeded databases, and live visitors, not a blank install.
- Measured, not quoted: time to first byte from multiple regions, NVMe random IOPS with
fio, memory pressure at peak, and 90-day uptime from an independent monitor. - Hidden-cost audits: bandwidth overage, backup and snapshot fees, IPv4 charges, and renewal pricing, because the headline price is rarely the real price.
- No experience, no ranking: if we have never run production traffic on a provider, it does not get a ranked spot. We will mention it honestly instead.
How we rank (the trust-broker funnel)
We use a transparent waterfall instead of sorting by commission:
- Hetzner first when it is genuinely the best value, which is most use cases for users comfortable with a Linux terminal.
- Cloudways second when you want managed hosting without server admin. Cloudways supports AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean, Linode, and Vultr. It is not a Hetzner reseller, despite what some reviews claim.
- Hostinger third when a bundled free domain or first-time pricing matters more than raw value.
